Who are we?

We are a congregation people who believe that Jesus is Lord and Christ, and that He is the Son of God.

Having become His disciples as instructed in Matthew 28:18-20, we strive to learn from God's word, follow His commands, and grow in our faith together daily.

The apostle Paul wrote, "Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus." --1 Thessalonians 4:1-2

The name, or description, of this congregation only bears the name of Christ. This is intentional, since our aim is to only follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Many churches today align their believes based on the teachings of a specific doctrine or individuals. However, we believe the Scriptures teach us to align ourselves with Jesus alone, who died for us and purchased us with His blood.

"Now I say this, that each of you says, 'I am of Paul' or 'I am of Apollos,' or 'I am of Cephas,' or 'I am of Christ.' Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?" --1 Corinthians 1:12-13

In all things, we make it our aim to glorify God in the name of Jesus Christ.

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." --Ephesians 20-21

What Is Our Worship Like?

1

Teaching

Our worship always includes lessons from the Bible. Romans 10:17 says that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So, all of our sermons and studies, we strive to teach and speak only what we can read in the Bible as the word of God.

2

Prayer

We pray together (Philippians 4:6). In our prayers we offer up thanks and praise to God, make our requests known to Him and pray about urgent needs.

3

Singing

We sing acapella, which means with our voices and not with mechanical instruments. Ephesians 5:19 teaches us to "speak to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord."

4

Lord's Supper

We observe the Lord's Supper each first day of the week. According to Acts 20:7, "On the first day of the week"  the disciples "came together to break bread". "Breaking bread" is another expression for the Lord's Supper. This is not a common meal to fill our bellies. It is symbolic. It is a memorial where we eat a unleavened bread and drink grape juice (or fruit of the vine). Our focus is on remembering the death of Jesus who died to save us from our sins. "For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes" (1 Corinthians 11:26).

5

Giving

We give as as the Lord has blessed us each first day of the week. This is not tithing. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 says, "On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper..." The collection is for the members of this congregation and we never solicit funds from our visitors. Giving in our worship is a way of expressing our love and gratitude to God for all that He does for us.

What work do we do as a church?

Our goal is to prove our love for God by obeying His word in all things. As Jesus said, "If you love me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15).

According to the New Testament Scripture, there are three things God commands His church do with the funds offered to Him in worship:

  1. Edification (Ephesians 4:15-16): To edify means to building up or strengthen through teaching and knowledge.
  2. Evangelism (1 Corinthians 9:14): Evangelism means to Proclaims the good news of salvation so all might hear and whosoever will may be saved (Acts 8:4).
  3. Benevolence (1 Corinthians 16:1-4): Benevolence describes love and caring for the genuine needs of Christians. It is not for entertainment or frivolous activities, but for genuine needs, such as helping widows who are completely destitute (1 Timothy 5:3-16).
